I have called their number three times and when I hit the prompt number 2 the phone hangs up on me.

All I want to do is set up an appointment to avoid sitting in the waiting room all day. How can this possibly be so hard? No way to do it online and no one answers either of the two numbers I've found listed for the Lewes office. So unnecessarily frustrating and pointless.

I just spoke to Miss Toni at the Lewes SS office and was very impressed by the level of help and understanding she gave. Some of these state agencies can be very difficult to get help and information but this woman was just as nice as could be. I hope her supervisor sees this review. Thank you.

I'm literary shaking as I write this. The “service” My mom and I have received today is hard to call humane if to call it service at all. To make it short we were yelled at after asking a question. Came in on a Monday 10 am, made a line the security guard helped us and explained everything, he was very nice. We got our number called (my mom doesn't speak English so I had to assist her) came to the window number . Not hello, not a good morning NOTHING. The lady stuck out her hand (I'm assuming she wanted to have our documents) I'm sorry we can't read minds? She was already annoyed. I explained her our situation and my mom has just gone through hell of war back in Ukraine and the lady didn't even open her papers, she immediately started refusing everything I said. I had some questions and after I tried asking any of those she kept rushing me and yelling (I kid you not) yelling at me that I'm arguing with her? I was asking a question in a totally polite manner! Apparently my research wasn't enough and I had to know what was my next step. So 0 questions answered, 0 helped received, I came out shaking and barely holding back tears from such treatment! Im so glad my mom didn't understand a word because she doesn't deserve it! The lady gave me her name after I asked her twice for it, she said it was and refused to give me her last name.

I went to this office in April 2022 to get a new card with my married name and and here it is June and I still have not recieved it

I echo what many stated below in their comments: this office is useless when it comes to trying to call to make an appt. It is either always busy, or when you finally (after numerous attempts) get through, you get disconnected after waiting for a long time. I give up. Will go to Dover to get things done. The Lewes office is terrible.

Called the Lewes office on March 21st and spoke to Paula about a replacement social security card for my underage grand- daughter. I explained to Paula that I was the guardian and the card was needed asap due to an employment opportunity. Paula was very patient and explained, in detail, every certified document that was needed to apply for the card. She also scheduled an appointment to come into the offiice with the documents and a completed appliction so we could complete the process. Paula's outstanding customer service was very much appreciated.

About a month ago I talked with a nice gentleman from the Lewes office about getting on Medicare. He sent me a form to fill out and mail in, which I did. As the enrollment deadline is fast approaching, and I have heard nothing, I called today to follow up. I waited for a long while, but then was hung up on. I will continue to call periodically

  12. Sep 18, 2021

Is the Lewes office open or not? Says it has been closed since last March. I have business I need to address, not through the mail or the internet. I keep getting conflicting answers which are very concerning and rather frustrating. If you are Not open to the public, than perhaps you could tell me how I can make an appointment to speak with someone.

Hello, I am a cultural exchange student with a J1 work visa, I would like to make an appointment to be able to obtain my social security number as soon as possible since with that number I can obtain my salary in this country, thank you.

I needed to fill out a form for a student. The form was returned to the parent with a letter stating the form was incorrect. There was a number to call if I had questions or needed help filling it out. I wanted to ensure I had filled out the form correctly, so I called. Each time I called, someone picked up the phone then put it down, and I could hear typing in the background before they hung up on me. I am at a loss for how this is an appropriate way to administer a social service. I needed help. None was provided.

I have been calling all day, since 8:00 this morning. I am tired of you people disrespecting me. I have changed banks.

  16. Feb 8, 2021

Had difficulty calling your office. My call went through this afternoon to ask questions regarding my SSN, however, the person I spoke with was not really helpful at all. Her first answer was 'What about it?', and after a couple of sentences she terminated the call. But no worries! Anyway, may I schedule a face-to-face appointment? I'm a nurse who just immigrated and it is important to get my SSN expedited. Kindly let me know. Thank you!

  24. Feb 19, 2020

I am trying to change my mailing address and I have been locked out of my account due to password issues. I called and cannot get anyone, what do I do to change my address?

  25. Nov 12, 2019

Very dissatisfied. I was told to wait till mid Nov to make an appt to sit with someone to discuss my upcoming benefits and retirement. I called this morning, it took at least 15 minutes to speak with someone. The girl kept getting my ss number wrong and coming up with other people and addresses. Finally she gets it right but then tells me I already have an appt about medicare. I tell her I don't and that's not why I'm calling anyway. All I want is an appt to speak to someone. She puts me on hold 4 more times and seems like she is not understanding my simple request. VERY FRUSTRATING. She then puts me on hold one last time and then the call is disconnected!! Oh my Gosh.....is this typical of all Government Agencies?? I think maybe it is. I rate this experience a big fat -0-

  26. Jan 22, 2016

I am very frustrated with this office. I got off of work early on January 22,2016 due to a potential risk for identity theft and my social security account being compromised, to go to this office in person. When I arrived at approximately 2:30p.m. The doors were locked with a sign adhered to the door stating the office was closed at 2:00p.m. Due to inclement weather. Here it is almost 3:00p.m. And there has yet to be a snowflake to fall so I would hardly say it is inclement weather and the local schools have not even closed early. Sounds like this office just wanted a short Friday workday. I, personally, just want to know my identity is secure and be able tp fill out student loan papers with my daughter for her continuing education. I have to work and treat cancer patients on the daily to help afford her secondary education and personally can't just up and leave work when I feel like it and these hours aren't the best for the working class. Most people work past 4:00p.m. and certainly don't close at 2:00p.m. For inclement weather when it hasn't so much as blown a stiff breeze.
