Absolutely horrible! I called both the local and the national phone numbers to try to set up an appointment and they either gave me the run-a-round or insisted that I must make an appointment online. But THERE IS NO PLACE IN THE WEBSITE TO SET AN APPOINTMENT. I said I’ll just go and wait in line and the lady said that they don’t allow that anymore. Whoever they put in charge of this entire business should be fired.

We were scheduled to receive a phone call about benefit filing at 1015 A.M. and the phone rang right on the dot. The Rep's name was Joey and he was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and professional in walking us through the process. I had papers spread all over the table in preparation for an arduous call, but thanks to Joey, it was a breeze. Thanks, Social Security, for employing a Rep who is an excellent ambassador for the agency.

My S.S. is very old and I want get a new one as soon as possible. So what documents or ID I need to bring to apply in person at your branch?

  12. Mar 4, 2024

I called a few weeks back about my adding Part B and the person I talked with found my application and said he took my answers to his questions and would process it to be effective this month. It was not. A few days after that call I received a letter with a form to complete to finish the process.

  13. Jan 16, 2024

I have called 5 times today-- I understood it was busy- I continued to keep trying. when i got thru i was excited but the person that answered my call was not helpful, very rude and hung up on me. then i called back-- unfortunately i got the same person. i asked for a supervisor; they said they cannot transfer anyone. then i asked for the supervisor's name; i was told no, there are 3 of them. then i asked her name and she said that she did her job and she would not give me her name. I called back and spoke with grace. she said that she can see a note that states her coworker processed it today, so it is my hope that it is all done now. however, your employee needs to realize that when she is dealing with the taxpayers, she should be more respectful. all we are asking for is the help we deserve.

I had the greatest experience with 'Cam'a claims representative that helped me after hours of trying to figure out a problem that I was having. Just a wonderful person and I cannot rave about him enough. Thorough, helpful, caring, empathetic and good looking.

  15. Nov 16, 2023

Awful, as usual. Lets see.... Don't just show up but make an appointment it says. Good luck trying to make an appointment. They want you to either just give up and not apply for anything and/or not show up and just pay whatever they want you to pay. And if you don't pay and wait long enough they will be pretty efficient at getting their money from your pay check and/or your tax refund. If you want to do the right thing though, and go to the SS Office to get things straightened out then they make it incredibly difficult on purpose. Notice how, if you want to pay something that is easy but if you need to make an appointment to talk to someone... well, that's not so easy. I called the 'appointment phone number', and guess what, just a one hour wait. One hour to make an appointment, and that's if your call doesn't get disconnected at some point which has happened to me after waiting for however long.

  16. Oct 16, 2023

Have tried to call to make an appointment but repeatedly have had no success. Come on, make it easier!!

I would like to leave a review for an employee at your office. Her name is Stacey, I am not sure of her last name. It is a very long story, put I would like to let you know that this employee of yours was a godsend to me. When no one else at the national # and another employee at your office, did nothing for me. When I had to call your office back I got Stacy, she was so polite and so, so helpful. She had everything solved in 10 minutes. I received my deposit the next day. This was my first check. The original interviewer took my Bank Acct# down wrong. I just can't tell you how thankful I am to her! Please, please acknowledge what a great help she was to me. Take care of her, wonderful employee!

  18. Aug 24, 2023

As per the online application for disability, I brought in what medical records I had along with a return cover sheet (also from the SS website). When I went into the office I was greeted by a security guard who stated that he would take my records and give them to an available agent. That was 2 months ago. Today, after calling previously numerous times only to hold for as long as 40 minutes, I finally got to speak to an agent who informed me that they did not have nor did they ever have my records. He did say that he 'wished the security guard would stop doing that' and that they dont want records brought there - which is in direct conflict with what the online instructions tell you to do. So now what? My records, which are not yesterdays newspaper, are gone and the agent that I spoke to basically said too bad but hey, if I want to speak to a superior, he will email them and I should receive a call back in a week or so. Either that or I can come in and MAYBE get to speak to this person. Unbelievable!

  19. Jul 27, 2023

Does social security office call people to asking about hard copy of social security card?

  20. Jul 19, 2023

I showed up with my son without an appointment to change his name on his SS card. There was a friendly security man there to greet us and make sure we knew what to do to get signed in and fill out the application. We were there around noon on Wednesday and were done in under 30 minutes. The man who helped us with the actual name change was very nice as well. As with any government agency, you have to be realistic in your expectations. You will not be in and out in 5 minutes.

  21. Jul 10, 2023

Had an appointment at 10:30 in the morning waited a month for it. It’s 11:07 and nobody has bothered to call.

  22. Jun 27, 2023

My social security card was stolen and I have a police report how do I get a new one.

  23. Jun 26, 2023

Horrible. Can’t schedule an appointment. But going into the office is also a stressful horrible time. I have gone to the office four times and they refuse to help me. They tell me that they’ll schedule a phone appointment to see if I qualify. On those days I make sure my phone is charged. I make sure I have my phone right next to me and I have never yet received a call back. This is So stressful.

  24. Mar 3, 2023

Looking to schedule a appointment for a walk in at the New Port Richey office

  25. Feb 6, 2023

I would like to come in to discuss my options.

  26. Jan 15, 2023

Everyone was friendly and helpful! Nice waiting area and even nicer workers.

  27. Nov 30, 2022

I mailed in an application along with some very important original personal documents of mine and followed step by step directions given to me by the office to submit my application, it's now December and I still have not received what I needed nor have I gotten any type of communication and every time I try to call I can never reach anyone. The website is of no help at all and it's extremely difficult to make an account and change your password if you forgotten it. I really hope that my things haven't been lost forever because I really need them back.

  28. Nov 10, 2022

I don’t know how anyone has spoken to an agent in almost a year. They have a recording that says that their office is closed from November 26 to November 29. This message is almost a year old. And it never connects to a live agent. Florida government hard at work.

  29. Nov 9, 2022

I had the most wonderful customer service rep on the phone today. I would love to put in a Kudos for her. If someone could tell me how I do that? Miriam, in the New Port Richey office on Wed, 11/9 about 12:30pm. She went above and beyond to help me. I appreciate her professionalism and kindness. Several times she said: 'It's my pleasure' in response to my thank you's. Just hearing someone say that makes you feel good. She resolved my issues with my Medicare application and then explained what would happen next. She spoke with patience, and it was clear she was happy to help me. I appreciated her, her helpfulness and the fact that she has all the information and understanding to provide the assistance we (the caller) need. After weeks of personal issues, she has made me feel so much better. Thanks so much, Miriam!

It is a crime how hard they have made it to speak to a person at SS. I called at 9:45 in the morning and was told by the robot voice that all calls are being rerouted to the national number. Then another robot went through a ng list of problems like dropped calls, poor cell service, and long wait times. This bot extolled the many things you could do at the SSA website, opting out of Medicare is not one of those. Then a male robot voice tries to get you to say why you are calling, I say opt out of Medicare and he says I think you wish to speak to someone about MEDICARE is that right? I say yes and he says I am sorry but our offices are now closed, please call back Monday through Friday between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M. and of course it is Friday October 7 at 9:45 which is not a holiday and they are supposed to be open. That is one way to get rid of we disgusting old people who are taking up valuable government time, simply switch the phones to night mode. My only remaining option is to spend the next three hours traveling to the SS office without an appointment probably to be told I can't be seen without an appointment. Social Security customer services is not bad really when you consider it does not exist at all!

  31. Aug 22, 2022

Is the office open to the public ?

  32. Aug 1, 2022

I have talked to two representatives in the past week. Neither one helped at all and just now the rep said, 'he's really not supposed to take this much time with this stull!' The rep on 8/1/22 said I cannot come in and just now rep #2 said I can come in. Neither one was helpful at all! Almost rude!

  33. Jun 7, 2022

Super easy process, everyone was really nice and helpful and made sure we had all the correct paperwork so that we didn't waste time waiting , only to be told we had to come back. We actually did have to get something stamped, so I am glad that they caught it at the front. Once we had what we needed it Took less than 30 minutes to get in and out, we went around 11:15 AM . WAYYYYYY better than any of the times I have gone to the Clearwater office

  34. May 6, 2022

Awesome people!! Over the phone and in person great experiences overall! Right from security at the door so welcoming and the person who helped me I only had to wait maybe 10 min and then right in and had everything completed 5-10 minutes later. They made it so simple with a smile too!

  35. Apr 25, 2022

I have been calling for over a month and a half to get my daughter's social security benefit amount corrected and have been leaving endless messages with not one return phone call. I was asked to provide information and then never reached out to when it was received, if it was received, it's honestly a joke at this point.

  36. Apr 5, 2022

My elderly father, who lives in New Port Richey, Florida, needs an appt and says he's not able to access an apt through the phone and office ls closed.

  37. Mar 29, 2022

Respond to my father, who doesn't have a computer. He mailed all info to your office and it got returned. Failure to properly take care of the elderly population of Florida, should not be an issue. He sent a hand written explanation with all needed documentation for you to file your paperwork, and you returned it all.

Do I have to set an appointment to get a new SSC now that I am divorced or can I replace it with my maiden name online

  39. Mar 8, 2022

When I was applying online I thought that it would save what I had done and let me finish another time. Instead they processed it and denied me and said I had to wait another 2 months to apply again. I did little more than put my name and address.BE AWARE you have to do it all at once.

  40. Feb 9, 2022

Wonderful service! I recently moved to Spring Hill from New York. Every time I called the national #, I was on hold for over an hour. I never even knew this office existed. When I called, it was a prompt reply, appointment set, confirmation sent, and I thank Ms. Reynolds so very much. She was amazing and answered all my question professionally, and with a smile

  54. Jul 15, 2021

Rude customer service agent. I moved from the district in March 2021. Contacted immediately per rules for SSI. Evidently agent never put information in system. Get name and date you contact... just to cover yourself. Could be much better service.

  72. May 17, 2018

I was treated very poorly. I am pregnant and 2 days over my due date. I came In early and they forgot to give me my drivers license. I had to return and was told the security guard would have it available. At this time I was having early labor contractions and made the security guard aware. However he continued to have a personal conversation with someone who appeared to be his significant other. A chair was not available to me and I was having pain while waiting several minuets for them to give me my license which they had forgot to return to me after making a copy. It was very unprofessional and I have never been treated so poorly.

What is SSI (Supplemental Security Income)?
SSI provides monthly payments to adults and children who have low income, few resources, and who are blind or disabled. SSI also provides monthly payments to people age 65 and older with limited income and resources, who are not blind or disabled.
How Much Can You Get from SSI?
The basic monthly federal amount for 2021 is the same nationwide:
$794 for one person, or
$1,191 for a couple

Not everyone gets the same amount. You may get more if you live in a state that adds money to the federal SSI payment. On the other hand, you may get less if you have other income such as wages, pensions, or Social Security benefits. You may also get less if someone pays your household expenses. You may also get less if you live with a spouse and he or she has income.
Should I Apply for SSI?
To get a monthly payment you must:
Be at least age 65 OR be blind or disabled;
Have limited income (wages, pensions, etc.);
Have limited resources (the things you own);
Be a U.S. citizen, a national of the U.S., or some noncitizens; and
Reside in one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands.

Exception: The children of military parent(s) assigned to permanent duty outside the U.S. and certain students temporarily abroad may receive SSI payments outside the U.S.
