It is impossible to get through to anyone by phone. I have taken off of work to attend two scheduled telephone appointments and they failed to call me on BOTH occasions. Completely incompetent and insensitive to the needs of the disabled.

This Customer Service is ridiculous. I called and was on hold for 30 minutes then hung up on. I called back 4 times and was hung up on each and every time.

It is impossible to get thru: I waited for 45 min only to be disconnected. I need an in-person app't. I cannot apply online because I collect 1/2 of my husband's SS & I am turning 70. This system is incompetent. No wonder government agencies have a horrific reputation.

Dear Sir/Madam Please do something with answering calls by your agents. When I called and waited for a next available agent, after 15 minutes, call is directed to somebody and automatically cuts -off. I have tried this today three times. What could be wrong with such connection? When I have called main number of SSA, they recommended me to call your office.

I had an interview regarding my benefits for the past period. I sent all the documents that you requested from me and you said that in a month I would receive a written answer. A month has passed but I have not received a letter.

Good morning, I have been calling and waiting on the line to leave an appointment for a change of name for a minor endlessly.

Terrible customer service, Called twice and spoke to two different customer representatives about why it has taken close to three months for the review process to be completed for Social Security Retirement Benefits. They had stated that they would look into the matter and notify us once they figure out what is going on. Not sure what the issue is but need some assistance. This is a serious issue that needs some attention.

I want to make an appointment for social security benefits in the Mt. Prospect Office in Illinois. I have filled out the application online and I am unable to 'Review & Submit'. I have been calling the 800 number for days and have not spoken with a person yet. I have waited as long as 45 minutes with no assistance.

Impossible to reach anyone… hours and days on phone with no one answering. Why on earth do you not have the names of staff and their extensions on your answering service…. Typical government employees and offices. If this were a private enterprise they’d all be fired!

  18. Aug 10, 2021

I have been trying to get connected to someone for so long. I called multiple times on different days and no one picks up! This is so frustrating and horrible service. This needs to be fixed ASAP!

  19. Aug 6, 2021

Could you please tell me the email address to send documents to the Mt. Prospect office.

  20. Jul 13, 2021

I’ve tried calling this number many times on different days of the week and at different times of day. The number will just disconnect after awhile and it’s impossible to get ahold of anyone or to even make an appointment. It’s ridiculous and extremely frustrating, there has to be a better way to do this.

  21. Jul 7, 2021

Please answer phones. Have been non stop calling. No one answers.

  22. Jun 21, 2021

I am trying to make an appointment using the 800 number and 866-931-8350 (Mt. Prospect's Phone) . It is impossible, I was on hold forever, so how can anyone make an appointment. Maybe I will try later after 6 PM.

  23. May 6, 2021

I have been trying to reach someone at this local office since January. I've called over 7 times on all different days of the weeks, at various times in the day (early, midday, and late). The automated call system has hung up on me numerous times. A few times it transferred my call to the national office, but the representatives there redirected me back to this local office each time, but I still have yet to reach a representative to answer my question. I cannot even schedule an appointment to come in. I've faxed a form to this office twice and have not received any response. I am very disappointed and frustrated by this failure in communication at this office. It has been impossible to get my questions answered.

  24. Apr 6, 2021

I have a question on how to submit a document that stating I do not need medicare at the moment. I spoke to a rep and said I needed to submit some sort of letter. Thank you!

Hi, I took the US citizenship in 2018 and didn’t know that we had to inform the Social Security Office about the new status, but recently when I checked on your website my status showed that I am not yet US citizen, I would like to update my status, so I need an appointment with your office and also let me know what documents I need to bring with me. Thanks, Ruhi

  26. Mar 15, 2021

I called three times. Twice the system just hung up at about 10 minutes. The third time I waited for 20 minutes. I heard the message that they will connect me. The phone rang, and rang and then the pre-recorded message said that there was nobody to answer my call, good bye and I got disconnected.

  27. Mar 12, 2021

Calling the Mount Prospect office is so difficult. On 3/12/2021 between 9:30a-10:30 I was hung up on by the phone system twice. In the third call someone answered at the 7 min mark said no problem let me transfer you to claims, I got a voicemail, goodbye. I would love to see the call completed versus calls abandoned/lost. Time to hold Social Security to standard business practices for customer service.

  28. Feb 23, 2021

I applied on January 8th. But I haven't received it.

  32. Dec 1, 2020

dispute hearing for wrong SSI. sent all documents. no response no change. need in person interview.

  33. Nov 30, 2020

11/30/2020 I was told to fax the Form SSA-44 to the office. Tried 6 times, during the day and late at night. The fax machine does not answer. It either turn off so people would not be able to send anything, or there is no paper creating the same result. I was also told, that if I mail it, it would take a very long time and may not be processed before the end of the year.
