  3. May 29, 2024

I went to Lynchburg Social Security office this morning to have my withholding changed. I got there around 8:45 am and waited in a short line to be admitted. Went through the easy process of registering and getting a number (W536) and sat down to read while I waited. I’m a fast reader but only managed a couple pages before my number was called. The representative (I’m afraid I didn’t catch his name but he was with a warm demeanor) met me with a huge smile and welcome and I explained my reason for wasting his time. He laughed and said I “…wasn’t wasting his time, all taxpayers were valued…” Within mere minutes he had my question answered and a change made and I bade him farewell, feeling all the better for my time spent at his window. I just wanted to say thank you for your attention to my problem and offer to you my congratulations for having this young man as a representative of the Social Security Administration. An impressive staff member, and a highly positive visit to your office.

Would just like to make an appointment. What’s with hanging up and never calling back?

  5. Aug 24, 2023

Every time I call I’m either getting hung up on or on wait for 7 hours and getting hung up on. I’ve been trying to call for days now.

  6. Jul 18, 2023

I have call the Lynchburg VA office 5 times to be hung up on ! This is taken 2 hrs of my day and I will probably lose this job because I can’t get in touch with a human being. All you get is the customer take a survey at the end of the recorded phone call.

Lynchburg Timberlake SSA office has not been accepting walk in or having any appointments for the last 3 years. I became a citizen and was told I have to have in person appt to get my name changed and can't do it online or submit form via mail. This is SO frustrating. I hope they open up soon or answer any calls.

I have been trying for 3 weeks now to call in to make an appointment, I've went up to the office and everybody has stopped me from going to try to make an appointment to see what I need to do. I don't know what to do I have to report my card being stolen, I don't understand why this is so difficult. I've even called around to the social security offices surrounding me to try to get to somebody and they always hang up on me like the line disconnects I never get to speak to somebody.

  10. Mar 14, 2022

I have called the local office number several times this morning. After waiting on hold, the line sounds like it is going to connect me to a person then drops the call. How are we supposed to contact anyone if they just disconnect us?

  12. Dec 20, 2021

I've called every day and spend HOURS cumulatively trying to get my nephew's benefits restarted after the death of my father in law. I'm currently calling and it has been ringing or on your hold messages for 35 min. Your message says on high call volume days you might have to wait up to 15 min. I've done that 100x over in the last 3 weeks.

I was told yesterday she has no benefits and Im confused of why because I know I did everything I was told to do with making her a bank avoidant and what not. Please contact me as soon as you get this. Seem every time I call its always busy and it just hangs up on me instead of giving me the choice to leave a call back number for them to call me back like the main line does.
