This was a very unhelpful service. The representative I got was rude and hung up on me mid call.
How do I request a copy of my benefits
I’ve been trying to call for a few weeks now in regards to an application I submitted for a name change back in January. Either no one answers, they say they will get back to you and they don’t, or they hang up mid conversation. Poor customer service.
Doesn’t make much sense that they require an appointment but nobody answers the phone.
Need to talk to a Rep. I been trying for days and hours. Received a letter ln the 2022 income and benefits dedictions which is wrong
I need to make an appointment, I need to correct my name in the system, my social security shows my last name as a middle name.
This office is absolutely USELESS and Incompetent. My child was born just before the pandemic hit, and the hospital never sent the paperwork to get a ssn for my son. I then submitted the paperwork and supporting documents. I have not received ONE BIT of communication from this useless office in regards to the status of his ssn. I have called countless times and have been told that they don't have anyone in the office...I'm sorry but the world did not end, and everyone else has been back to work for MONTHS, so why can't the Social Security office do its job in its office? I have been told countless times that a manager will be in contact with me about my son's ssn. Guess what, I have not received one call back or email.
Terrible. I’ve been waiting for them to fix my account. Every time I call I get nowhere. Today I’ve called five times only to get disconnected. It takes forever to fix their error and fix my payment but they were sure quick to deduct the Medicare from the already low amount I receive.
Today I called the Poughkeepsie SSA office to find out if my Medicare Part B application was received, as I sent it electronically a month ago but have not received any type of notification that it was in fact received. A very pleasant gentleman named Mr. Yi answered the call and spent a fair amount of time searching for my file. He finally found my application and apologized for taking so long, which was not necessary at all, as he was helping me. I can't thank Mr. Yi enough for his time, patience, courtesy and his professionalism. I was expecting the worst after hearing stories from other people and reading some of the comments here, but found my experience to be quite the opposite of everything I heard and read. Thank you again for your excellent service! John
Hola necesito recuperar mi social perdido.
I have been trying to get a hold of someone at this office regarding an over-payment letter I received but it takes forever to get through and they keep disconnecting me as well.
I will say that the security here is sloppy and unprofessional, but the actual working officers are on your side. My props go to the 2nd agent on my case, whose name I should have learned -- you were a dark-skinned woman, and you saved my life! Thank you eternally for bringing me justice almost a decade after my Mother's death.
Thank you Ms Garcia, Your supervisor called and has taken action just as you said. Much appreciated. Thank you again. Bill
For the past two weeks, I have been trying to contact your office, after waiting on the phone for a while, I get disconnected. I have faxed my documents twice and according to the main office of SS the information is not in the system. I need assistance and I don't seem to be able to get any.
I sent in my driver’s license & original as per your representative which was incorrect information. I didn’t have to send in my drivers license and then they tell me it takes 90 days before I receive my new Social Security card with my marriage name on it and it’s been over 90 days and as of yet I have not received my original copies information drivers license or original wedding license which I was told I would get back into weeks, so I had to pay to get my license back to DMV and still no Social Security card!! I’m looking to speak to a supervisor because this is ridiculous
I have never encountered more rude staff. Unbelievable that our tax dollars go to this. Blamed me for bad advise given by this office.
I called Pougheepsie office for help with a matter. I did understand by the end of the conversation that the social security office was unable to help me with this matter. However the women I spoke to was extremely rude. She continued to speak over me when I was trying to explain why I was calling, and was very short. I do not feel that anyone in public service should speak to a caller in this manner. I hope there is recordings of phone calls, so someone could listen to this conversation.
I have spoken to this office by phone on 3 occasions and every time, before I even begin to say why I am calling, the person I talk to is already annoyed. It starts at “hello” and doesn’t change no matter how pleasant I am. Makes me feel pretty hopeless for getting what I need attended to, processed and done. Today’s phone call was about getting my name changed due to marriage so I can get an EIN number for my new business. After harshly being told I need to Mail in the documents and will get my SS card in possibly several months, I started to explain why I need it sooner but was cut off and very angrily told that unless I had a dire emergency, I would have to Mail my documents in and wait. When I was able to explain that I can’t start operating my business without an EIN # and to get that my name and SS # have to match, she angrily asked me my name and phone number and told me somebody would call me in a few WEEKS to schedule an appointment for sometime after that. Her attitude makes me feel like she just tossed my name and number and nobody’s going to be calling me to set up an appointment. And it all started with “hello”. Apparently that’s a fighting word.
Do I have to make an appointment to enter your business? thank you
I have an appointment and no one is answering from the Poughkeepsie office.
Llamo para contactarme con ustedes pero no entra la llamada. El motivo que les escribió es que necesito ayuda Es económicamente por qué no estoy trabajando cuidó a mi niña que es especial.
They answer the phone in mins

Hello just wanted to inform you that I received a call from number 443-828-2096 informing me that I have an issue with my Social Security number andIt has been suspended and I need to call back with information. I’m sure it’s a scam just wanted to keep you updated
To whom this may concern, I hope this email finds you well. I have been recently called by scammers, and I was pushed to say my Social security number. I am writing to request for a new Social security number.
Last time I was there-I live way south, in Carmel NY-I came out in the middle of my car being stolen. Can I use the Greenburgh office, or Danbury? It's all Federal, right?
