I need to make an appointment to apply for a name change after my marriage this past Spring. I read on your website that I must apply in person with identification in order to accomplish this. My nearest Social Security office is located in Santa Rosa, Ca. I have tried calling the number listed on your website, but this number does not work. Can you please advice me about how I move forward to handling this matter?

I am trying to make a telephonic appointment to apply for retirement SS benefits. I have some questions regarding special wage payments, so I feel it necessary to speak with someone in person versus completing the information on line. Is it possible to set this appointment up with someone from the Santa Rosa Office?

I have been trying to get my earnings statement fixed for years!!! It all started in 2010...I finally went into the office 6/27/19, gave them all my info and they said it would be fixed in a couple of months. Have since called back on 8/14/19, and again on 10/21/19 and was told I'd get a call from a supervisor in 1 week. Well, its now 12/2/19, 6 months later, and it is still not fixed! What does it take Santa Rosa office to get my earnings record fixed?

  14. Feb 15, 2019

Was on hold waiting to speak with an agent for 12 minutes. Music playing. Then a recording came on saying 'The extension you requested is not available . GOODBYE.' the Call hung up on me.

Been trying to call your office all day. Your phone system does not seem to be working, never did get through to anyone while waiting on several tries. Got hung up on at the end, message saying, no voice mail. You have a local number? I need to make an appointment.

Ms. D., who is a supervisor, is the single most rude individual I have every spoken by phone to. Do the people in the Social Security Administration realize that the taxpayer pays their salary? Her customer skills are non-existent. I have been trying to apply for medicare advantage through Kaiser. I found that because I was previously employed, I do not have Medicare part B. To obtain this, I had to get a document completed by my previous employer because I am asking to enroll outside of the open enrollment window. Finding this out has taken two months - we are without healthcare insurance and my husband needs medications for blood clot issues and depression (very expensive). I complete both forms and send second day delivery only to get them back a 1.5 weeks later. Hand written on the form and yellow highlighted is 'start date:'. No explanation - nothing. Now I have to call the office to understand what this means. She was curt and snotty to me. Told me how overworked they are. I asked why they did not just give me a call (my number was on the form). Her response was they are too busy. So instead of a quick call, someone took the time to hand write 'start date: on the forms, place them in an envelope, hand write my name and address on the envelope and throw it into the mail. Seriously? A call would have been quicker and provide significantly better customer satisfaction. And by the way, I just got off of a unpleasant call with Ms. D so the phone call you claim you are too busy to make was not avoided after all was it?

Last week (October 19), I was helped at your office by James at Window 5. I just wanted to inform you that he did an outstanding job in assisting me. He was thorough, patient and pleasant throughout the process.

I no longer want taxes taken out of my check what do I need to do

  19. Jul 12, 2018

I called and opted to wait for a representative. Three minutes into the hold time I heard a ring, hold music stopped but the line was still live. Three minutes later I was disconnected. I called again and opted to wait for a representative. Six times during the hold music I heard a ring and went right back to hold music. The seventh time I was greeted by a representative and told her what happened. She stated that she was the only person answering phones and she didn't place me on hold. To her credit, she remained professional while I was explaining my experience. I did receive the information I was seeking when all was said and done.

We want to do a 'shout out' for the excellent service we received from the staff at the Range Ave office. We were confused as to where David's distributions were being sent so they immediately took action to suspend distributions until we could confirm where they were deposited. Our second visit to confirm all was set up properly we were surprised and pleased that staff was aware of our situation and ready to initiate solutions. We think this office is doing a GREAT job. Thank you Sally and David

Phone message does not give option to make an appointment.

  22. May 4, 2018

Appaarently you still are having the same problem someone wrote about yesterday, the phone goes to a mailbox when you request to speak to a representative. This should of been fixed by now or at least an update on the phone. I need to know if there is a fax I can send disablilty report , it is due Sunday, so I have to get in today. FaX??? This is not okay the phones are not working still!!

  23. Mar 20, 2018

I called and the menu said to press or say 0 for a representative. I pressed 0, I heard two telephone rings and then a recording that said I was in a mailbox that could not take any messages, and then your system hung up. I called again, pressed 0, the phone rang four times and then nothing -- no mailbox, no recording, nothing. Eventually, I hung up. You list a phone number, but it does not provide a way to communicate with you. How does one communicate with the SSA's Santa Rosa office?
