Hi! How can I make a appointment?
Even though the office is not open to the public the officer on the phone was very helpful and knowledgeable about my questions. He was also very personable.
Good morning, How can I schedule an SSN appointment?
My son is 18 and needs to apply for his first SS card. I read that he needed to do so in person. Are you accepting in person appointments? Thank you
William was great, extremely helpful and thorough.
I dealt with one individual at this office who, after submitting and reviewing multiple applications, had still not even looked at a single piece of paper filed. The ignorance of what was on the applications and what was being applied for was astounding! Then she had the audacity to be extremely rude on the phone suggesting no one had ever put any such information on the applications. Of course, I have copies of every correspondence showing where all of the information is listed over and over again. The same precise information on every piece of paper, and she never looked at it once. (Sigh) Now I have no choice but to go to a supervisor or director who will hopefully be more competent. Unbelievable how our taxpayer money is wasted on such dramatic incompetence! It is truly outrageous, but I won't let such clumsiness be swept under the rug. Phone calls and letters are already being drafted to a host of individuals. Good luck to anyone needing to use this office! (By the way, I have seen fantastic service and responsiveness at other offices with other clients, so I know this is not a problem everywhere.)
I talked to a person who gave instructions on how to receive a replacement card for my 16 year old son. I filled out the application and included his school ID. I was not informed that my driver license was also needed. 5 days later we received an envelope from the State College Office returning the school ID. Nothing else was included. No words of communication-NOTHING. No communication. Why not have a note in the returned mail explaining anything -- Something!!! This was so unprofessional any office would be ashamed!!! After talking to a person today I was told of OUR mistake. He said he wasn't trying to be difficult and there was nothing to do but start the whole procedure all over again. He did not seem to care about my frustration. Incompetent people should be fired if not able to fulfill their job .Who knows what will happen next, I have no faith in their service and probably they will intentionally delay things more due to my anger. Disgusting. We are all in this together they say. So maybe make things kinder instead of difficult. This disappointment is such a lack of service to the people of this Country and our community.
My experience with the field officer in the Social Security Office in State College was very wonderful as I noted in the reviews I read before I left. However, a female security guard at the office was extremely militaristic and disrespectful of me, a racial/ethnic minority person. I am going to take time to process my negative experience and emotions that stem from it before I send a complaint to the city and/or Social Security Administration Headquarter in Baltimore. My intention is to encourage them to improve their services.
