Parents or guardians usually can apply for blind or disabled children under age 18. In some cases, other third parties can apply for children.
You should bring certain items when you apply. Even if you do not have all of the things listed below, apply anyway. The people in the Social Security office can help you get whatever is needed.

Your introduction menu on the phone is WAY too long. I shouldn't have to sit on the phone for 5 minutes just to find out your office is closed.
I just need to know if Valparaiso, IN office is open for in person visit
Wonderful service whenever I contact the Valparaiso, Indiana office! I always get the correct answer while being guided through the sometimes cumbersome processes with Social Security.
The staff here are very professional and provided excellent service with my Social Security Disability case. I heard horror stories about the Social Security process, but I found that my experience was the opposite. If you apply as instructed and provide all the medical documentation and information they request, the entire process is very easy, and you can get approved without the use of an attorney. My hat goes off to the entire Valparaiso, IN Social Security office staff and I'm grateful for the excellent services you provide.
Are you open on the inside cuz I need to get my last changed off my social security card
I agree with others, that it is extremely difficult to get through to anyone for any assistance at a local SS building. They make it very hard for American citizens to receive replacement cards. You have to jump through many hoops just to replace what you have already had. The rest of the US businesses are in operation, why not this one. Wear a mask and let people in the building so they can be helped efficiently. Calling the dept. does not work because everyone is busy and no one is available to answer your call. Your on-line services are not user friendly.
Great work updating my personal info. Keep up the great work
This office is impossible to contact. My father had his SS paused and needs to talk to someone to rectify the situation. There isn’t even a place to leave a message. We need to handle this in person and can’t make an appt. He has been without his single source of income since March. This is negligent.
Do I have to do anything special since I’m on disability and am turning 65.
I will turn 62 in May I understand I need to file in February, what will I need to bring? Thank you
It appears that I am paying for Medicare Part D. I do not want it. How can I cancel it?
Can I fill for social security at 63 years old retirement
